no rigging?

I know it's probably sacrilege, but how about nothing? If your hand is big/strong enough, you can grasp the paddle shaft and coaming in one hand. No hassles removing the paddle afterward. It works, even in rough water. Once back on board, shift the paddle in front of you with float still on, and stabilize with hands/elbows plus coaming rim etc.
