Hi Ken, lots of great advice here. One thing not mentioned that could really simplify things for you. It sounds to me like the bend is in the height transition from the front to rear of the cockpit. Place your cockpit cutout pattern in place and if the problem area is under the pattern, forget about it because you are only going to cut it out anyway. Just run the strips a few inches into the cockpit opening coming from both ends and don't fuss about the bends.
