Thanks for the warning. That's experience the hard way. Today I just sealed and glassed my deck. After causing a lot of needless trouble by "fussing with the hull too much (I learned the hard way). But because of learning from the hull this step was the easiest of the whole boat so far!! I mixed small batches (3oz) rolled on clear coat to seal the wood first, let it soak in for about 40 min and squeeged to take off the excess (the detail RED redwood pieces seemed real thirsty, so "topped" them up.). It set up tack free in 6 hours, layed out cloth (my instructions called for 6oz so I ordered all my glass as that, but if I was better informed when I ordered I would have gotten 4oz instead) and rolled on a thin coat. The glass was so "tight" no reason to go over it any more!! A little experience goes a long way and this time I had a good time.

: While Waiting for my epoxy to fully cure before applying my varnish I
: installed all my deck lines, seat, and back rest. I hung it in my garage
: waiting for either a nice day or two to three weeks for the epoxy to
: finish cureing. well a month went buy and I still didn't manage to get it
: and me in the water.(thats another story that im still a little sore about
: it) but anyway, so I took my kayak over to the inlaws to varnish pulled
: all the rigging off. and there is a shadow where all the deck lines are
: running, I didn't have the boat in direct sun and it was hanging so the
: bottom would actually get more light then the top. well now I found out
: that flourecent lights put out some uv. and my shop is very well lit and I
: just changed most of my bulbs.
: So Its a good Ideal if you are going to let your epoxied boat set before
: varnishing you probably might want to think about covering it.
