Thanks for refreshing my memory (I did it last summer)- I fill coated the sides to just below the waterline first, and then masked off above the waterline and did the bottom. That way the sides were smooth for the tape.

: texture after just wetting it out? That's why I was thinking of filling
: the sides first so I have a smooth and level surface to apply the tape for
: the graphite bottom.
