Hi, I just got done installing an 8" beckson deck plate in my rear bulkhead to use for access to my rear compartment instead of a rear hatch. I want to see if I can get by without cutting another hole in my boat.

Not sure how you intend to use yours but for this application I went for a screw in plate figuring that it was more secure. No basis for that opinion, just my gut feeling about it.

One thing I discovered was that when you install one in this position, behind your seat, the finger holes are not enough leverage to easily unscrew the plate when your fingers are cold and wet. I added a simple plastic drawer pull to the front of the cover and it works great.

This photo shows the parts just placed in the boat prior to installation but you get the idea. Also the cover does not yet have the drawer handle installed. If this is what you had in mind I am glad to provide more details. Good luck.
