: Patsy, what are you glassing with what materials and what is your concern?
: With about $7 in scrap glass and epoxy you can pretty much learn all you
: need to before diving in assuming slow epoxy and temps between 65 and 75.
I'm just being overly cautious, perhaps. Trying to learn as much as possible before actually doing it for real. My concern is just that I don't know what the hell I'm doing and it would be nice to see it actually done. Practicing on a small piece of extra plywood is a great idea, though and I'll plan on doing that. I have Nick's book and tons of posts from here on epoxy and glass that I'll go back over before starting.
I'm going to be glassing a Kipawa II S&G canoe with 6 oz glass and probably RAKA epoxy. All I have right now is five sheets of 4mm Okoume, 2 sheets of construction grade plywood, and two sawhorses. The plans are in the mail and I need to order the epoxy, glass, tape, and supplies. I'm thinking low viscosity epoxy and slow hardener. I'll be working in the garage in North Carolina in the spring, so the temperature should be in the correct range. I may need to bump it up a bit with a space heater. I'm obviously a long ways from actually applying any epoxy, but I'm thinking ahead.
