My friend contacted CLC, and they told him he might not have let the stain dry enough. They recommended wiping down the deck with laquer thinner, and letting it dry 45 minutes. We did that last night, and the next epoxy coat seemed to be of a uniform thickness. He'll do one more coat, then sand it down. I try to have everyone use a fairing board. I had a lot of success with it on my Guillemot last season. I buy rolls of 4.5" sandpaper, and glue them on.

: I think you have two different situations there and both should be
: correctable. The fisheyes usually come from surface contaminents and you
: will NOT be able to fill over them. They just get bigger with each coat
: until you have volcanos. You can usually sand them out once the epoxy gets
: hard enough so sand. And then reapply. My experience with the orange peel,
: IF we are talking about the same thing ( multiple pimples all over the
: surface ), You have put on an exceptionally thick application in that
: area. But, to qualify that statement: I've never experienced it with
: epoxy, but most other types of finishes. Again, when the finish has
: hardened enough to sand, you may do so and take out the high points and
: level it all off. The use of a fairing board will help there as well. Hope
: this helps, but there will be others who may have had the same problems
: with epoxy, so hang in there.
