This was the fiberglass weekend. I'm layed up two layers of 3.2oz satin weave E-glass on my hull over the last two nights. I'm really pleased with the way it went. I had to put a lot of resin on to wet it out but I squeegee'd the heck out of it two or three times during application. I was surprised how much excess epoxy squeezed out from under the fabric (and onto my shoes )... surprised that it had floated so easily. Anyway, the finished result looks very professional - it has a surface texture about the same as blue jean material. When the time comes, I'll sand and varnish WITHOUT HAVING TO DO ANY FILL COATS - YIPPEE!
Application took about 4+ hours per layer. It's been several years since I finished my first boat but it seems like the satin weave is a lot easier to work with. One more layer on the center football section tonight and then it's time to finally get some sleep.
