: Tell us again about the class. How many kids, what ages, how much time do
: they devote to this each day, etc.

I have 27 on the roll. Mostly 13 and 14 years of age. We have been averaging about one to two hours per day, some class time, recess (beats having to go out in -20 degree temps), lunch and after school. On Tuesday afternoons we have double Social Studies so we usually divide the class up into four groups; one group works on the kayak, another group does research on kayak history (hunting, technique, etc.), and two more on the art work which will be painted on after we do our seal coat. The kids absolutely love it. They are drawn to it like a magnet. I have four guys that just can't keep their hands off it. They are always asking me "Can we work on the kayak, Mr. Hughes." I don't mind. I see what it does for them and that makes me happy.
