Hi Shawn and Chip,

Did a search on dye/stain here and reviewed it and some sites too (Thanks Chip for the page). I have just wanted to maybe use some stain or paint in one other place as fine line detail. And now looking at my cockpit and the pinstripe I'd like to put there and the thinking you guys got me started on here is what my brain came up with for line detail like I want to do:

I'm going to check with a finsher friend of mine, but now I think I will put nothing between the wood and epoxy and glass and when the boat is ready for varnishing, I will tint a little of the same clear varnish to the darker color I want and "paint" the detail on with a fine tiped brush. When it's dry just varnish as usual. No compatablitiy problems and for small areas easy to do I know the tinted varnish will still be somewhat translucent but that it fine for me too. And I like that I don't need another trip to the store now but can get the cockpit glassed tonight (just did the fillets) and pull the deck tomorrow!!! Can't wait to get the forms out and sand and glass the interior. With the cockpit now "complete" the boat really looks like a real boat for the first time .
Thanks for the quick response, want to keep moving and didn't want to wait more days to do this pinstripe now.

Joe
