Greg,
I am going to beg you for the last word on this.
What I do occasionally changes individual out comes. What you do changes many.
I may have the audacity to go face fear for a few days a few minutes at a time. It is a short term commitment, and it is a privledge. You have the audacity to beleive you can steward minds, alter the course of lives and characters, change families and individuals. Anyone can do something for 3 days. It is a far bigger commitment to do something for 13 years.
Mine is always a short term commitment....You commit to projects that will not have out comes for decades and that will change other lives. With no reasonable assurance that what you have devoted your life to.... will work.
9/10ths of what I do is caused by folks are dying or killing, because of a lack of hope, creativity and collaberative thinking. What I do wouldn't be necesary if there was more of what you do in this world......
I fix present dangers. You keep them from happening. I hope eventually folks like you are so succesful that you put guys like me out of business.
My efforts may make the papers occasionally, Your efforts and those of your peers far to often go un-noticed but will be with this world for generations.....and should be recognized more often. In my recent effort at public speaking that is theme one. The hero's in our nation never went away....They just stopped making our popular culture's radar screens. Look around your town for those who commit their lives to others....
Greg, I have spent much my life in the environements where courage isn't just a character trait, it is an essential commodity. Friend on this subject I know of what I speak. Courage is best measured by the commitment of self. Judging from the pictures and your bio, You are a giant. Valor is not just for the muscle bound who face danger, but with those with the vision and capacity to lead from a strength of character to alternate out comes.
If I might borrow a phrase, a real educator is "a living testament to courage, determination, and dedication."
By any measure you are my hero!
Keep launching em, The world needs more of what your building, I admire your commitment!
