Thanks guys. I haven't done much metalwork either. I had always heard that cast iron could NOT be repaired. I happened to see a tool on TV that was repaired (Woodright's Shop); it was a cast iron chairmaker's shave. I guess my thinking (without really knowing) is it's possible but not ideal. I'll try my hand at it (probably silver solder) but I'm bidding on a spare fence anyway.

I found the Box #2 irons (flat grooves and tongue)on ebay too... not cheap but doable.
