I've had a few ppl say that forms at 20 inches wasn't a good idea for stripping. (I want to put a nice curved design in it)
I think I found a way that will work tho (Matching the Guillemot Strip forms to the S&G deck) First I should say that, due to a mis-measure that I still can't figure out, my sern is about an inch lower than stock and, well, I didn't exatly stick to the plans as much as I should have. So, most numbers should be suspect.
With that in mind, I ran a tight string from bow to stern. I then measured the distance from the string to the shear and hull width at 12 inch intervals along the hull and at dead center. I got out my drawings of the stripper forms and transfered the eight foot height mark to form 8 from form 8's shear. I then measured the distance from 0,0,0 to the new mark on form 8. Tada! I now know the string height point on each form and the distance from that pont to the new shear line and even the new hull width!
First run, I forgot to account for the Guillemot's bow being 3 inches higher than its stern at the shear but, I can divide that up along the length. Width is going to be a hundred times simpler by scaling X and not Y.
Am I trying to split too many hairs here? Am I geeking out on the measurements or am I right to make sure everything is right to the 1/16 of an inch?
