as Lee says, use 'cut from cloth strips'. cut the strips on the bias, 45 degrees to the weave. it's really amazing what you can do with a bias-cut strip.
as for the inside cloth. cut your cloth aproximately to shape by laying it on the outside of the boat and marking it out. roll up the cloth, flip the hull and roll it out on the inside. use clothespins or spring clamps to hold it in place at the shear. wet out useing a squeegee and patience.
