Yo David

I built a S&G guillemot ply decks and all. I love it. During the course of surfing Nicks Bulletin board I linked up with Myrl Tanton who is in the throws of putting a stripped deck on his S&G hull. He has a web site that might be of interest to you:

http://www.geocities.com/myrlin_us/kayak/kayak.html

By the way, I never told Myrl, but the paua shell strip on my kayak is above the sheer join. Thus, depending on how big and heavy you are, the ply hull will mostly have 1 - 2" of free board. I figure that your stripped deck will look like a whole stripper in the water.

I think I will just buy Nicks plans for the expedition single and make a 100% stripper next. Then, being a non-smoker: not prone to addictions, I reckon it will be easy to avoid the building any more kayaks after that ... mind you, when I get older a skin on frame might be lighter for my tired old body to lift in and out of the water .....

Cheers Pete
