: Thanks guys, much appreciated.

: Another question: what is the difference between a plastic/fiberglass and a
: wood Kayak?....Should I buy a plastic one first?

There's a bigger difference between plastic and fiberglass than between fiberglass and wood.

Plastic is very tough, resilient, heavy, flexible, and relatively inexpensive

Fiberglass is fairly durable, brittle if dropped from a significant height, lightweight, stiff (a good thing), and moderately expensive

Kevlar is quite tough, resilient, lightweight, fairly stiff, and expensive.

Wood is fairly durable, more resilient than 'glass, but less than plastic--about the same as kevlar. Lightweight, extremely stiff, and if you build it yourself--cheap! Oh, and they can be drop-dead gorgeous!!!!!
