I am so busy trying to get the inside of the hull sanded so I can seal it otherwise I would sit down right now and look more at your site..... Oh, well maybe after it is all glassed.... I too am counting on padding around the pump on the fixed bulkhead for my footrest (I want to try a special angle and padding there). I just seem to be the lone paddler of people I know, can't tell if my girl will like to paddle more (just let her make her own mind, for now she likes to be in my canoe). Anyway this boat would be a bit big for her so it is just to please me so I think it is better to fix and custom the footbracing. Anyway after looking at your install do you think you could have padded the bulkhead to be a good footrest IF you did not change you mind to go with the adjustable yakamas?

Thanks for the kind words, Joe. I'm glad the site helps. When I started, I
: expected to mount the pump, and then pad around it with minicell for my
: footbrace, but decided near the last minute to put in the mid length
: Yakima footbraces so that other folks could enjoy the boat. Turns out the
: adjustable footbraces were a good idea. While the bulkhead is positioned
: so I can comfortably actuate the pump, my footbraces are currently 3"
: back from the bulkhead, and I would adjust them another inch back if I was
: in significant current or chop.

: concerned with introducing water *into* the hatches by extending the bilge
: pump capability to the hatches. I really like the volume of this pump -
: should be able to drain the cockpit quickly. We'll see when I decide the
