The section form ended up being 'bridges' as suggested by a poster here on the BBS (I forget who, I suspect it was Shawn B). It make the choice of going almost stapless easy. holding the strips to the stations with a clamp, rather than staples.

If you are doing somthing, simillar, consider closing the bottom of the arch, to make a polygon type shape. Although I got the bridges to hold the shape of the deck well, I found they wanted to lift up off the hull a bit..

If you close the bottom, you could just tape it down, or put some weight over the bottom rung.
