It is easier to get a float bag, or gear bag into the end of the kayak if you can pull it in, rather than push it in. To achieve this, mount a small pulley at the very end of your boatand have a loop of pull cord with a buckle or clasp on it that you can attach to your gear bag. Pull on the rope and it pulls from the pulley, dragging your stuff deep into the inner parts of the hull. A short rope tied to the tail end of your gear bag may make it easier to retrieve things.

Of course not that the boat is sealed ou may wonder how you are going to get a pulley into the end of the boat. simple. Mount your pulley to a scrap piece of 1x3. Loop your rope through the pulley. With a drop of hot -melt glue near the pulley, secure a length of broomstick, or similar long piece of wood. Don't overdo the gluing, you'll want to break this off later, so use a minimum amount of glue. Mix up an ounce or so of thickened epoxy and use it to butter the other side of the block you have the pulley mounted to. then use the broomstick to thread the block into the end of the boat. Stand the boat on end so the epoxy doesn't drip out, and wait a day or two for ti to set up. Keep soem tension on the cord so it doesn't drop into the epoxy. When the epoxy has hardened, a sharp twist of the broomstick should break that free from the pulley mounting block.

hope this helps.
