Hi there, again.
I did make up a couple of small panels. After a couple of hours in the shop, I brought them into the warmer house for overnight. This morning, both panels were pretty equal in appearance and 'feel'. The Xylene panel no longer smelled of solvent as it did for several hours.
The thinned epoxy was, indeed, easier to work with. It spread well, wet out well, and squeegeed up just fine with fewer after-marks from the squeegee.
The stuff is really stinky, though. Not for use in your basement shop, and maybe not even your attached garage/shop. And, in the amounts used for the larger work such as glassing a hull, you definately want appropriate respirator protection. Also, my latex gloves are not approved (on my list, anyway) for xylene; instead, nitrile gloves are recommended.
I'm comfortable enough with it that it may come down to a coin toss whether I'll use it to glass my hull.
