I have a B & D Combo so the jigsaw portion is the most basic you can get, yet it still cuts well.
1. Don't force it. The saw will cut by itself with only the minimum of pressure from the operator. I found if I got too "eager" it jumped around.
2. Keep the foot flat. This means making sure the ply is also flat. If it does start to jump - back off, flatten the foot and start cutting again.
3. Support the area your in front of your cutting as well as where you have cut. Because of the support needed, long panels are better and faster cut with a hand saw. You can still cut a fair a mount of curve with them.
4. Use a plywood blade. It makes all the difference to tearout.
5. Some ply are just jigsaw unfriendly. Used what was known as "Redwood" ply in NZ for my cockpit coamings and found that the top layer of veneer would split off for a good 5cm. I got around it by cutting the 1st layer with a knife then sawing 5mm on the outside of the line.
