These aren't the loops that I was thinking about. The ones I saw used a bent plastic tube that was imbeaded though the top of the deck. A small cord was then threaded through the plastic tube so that the carry line came out through the deck and not the hull. The tube was there so that the line could be replaced at a later time if it needed to be.
