Check the archives for a series on installing a temporary skeg or fin. You may be surprised at how little it takes to improve the tracking without sacrificing manuverability. I have a short (13'-6") fiberglass kayak that tracked very poorly. The resulting frustration made paddling no fun so I made a "Y" shaped fin out of 16 ga. s.s. The blade is only 2.5" x 12" but it made a HUGE diff. If you go with a temp try trimming it down after a while, your technique may improve to the point that you don't need it, if not use the temp as a pattern for a nice one.
