: Hello there. I am building the Wineglass Wherry. I'm at the point when I
: would like to glue some braces to the areas where the seats will be glued.
: That means gluing a piece of wood about 10 inches down from the shear
: line. How could I clamp that ? I was thinking about cutting two pieces of
: wood from a 2x4 and use them in a tweezer like fashion by clamping the top
: with a clamp to create enough pressure on the other end.
: Any ideas on how to clamp this?
that sounds like a great idea - like a large offset clamp - hinge the far ends(loose bolt, stapled webbing, maybe a spacer to match the brace size), clamp back say 12in, shape inner end to fit brace and screw clamp tight, not much different in setup as one of those old wooden winder clamps.
also could wrap the boat w/ webbing clamp or between 2 walls and then jam both braces outwards w/ scrap stick in between.
or why not just stitch and sew the braces in place but put the stitches near other joins, then fill holes after setup.
