There have been a few postings in the past from people interested in building their own. the basic idea is: get a pole, cover it with something epoxy won't stick to, wrap carbon fiber (or glass cloth) around it, saturate with epoxy resin, let it harden, pull out the tube, sand and finish.

The advantages to making your own are that you can make it to any diameter (inch, metric or anthromorphic), or shape (round, oval octagonal, etc.) you desire, and you can make it from scraps for little or no cost. Experimentation is therefore cheap, and likely to be very successful. Try making one or two. If you don't get it right in three tries, then you can call for help, or just buy a stainless steel or aluminum one.
