As long as you are using scraps instead of glass tape, use some wider ones for the outside seams. Go with a single layer of 6 to 12 inch widths if you have it.
The wider width hides any acute "bumps" that you might get from a relatively narrow piece of tape.

Since the glass cloth would not necessarily have the selvedge edges that you have on the woven tapes, you'll find they lay flatter and are much easier to fair in, or "feather" in.
