a stronger method?

i guess another way would be to intemingle the rubber strands and glue them side to side under tension - it would be stronger than just the surface nylon bond.

the idea would be to pull the nylon way back say 2 inches on each side. over lap the 2 cords from each way and clamp ea end. Pull hard to 4 in length. lay on the glue in the centre area and intermingle the centre area for say 1 in in the middle. (say you use masking tape or plastic shaped clamp end mould to keep round shape). letset up, remove clamp and pressure and trim off ends that go beyond the same diam. pull on side of nylon over and glue, pullover other side.

that way the bungee is as strong as the rubber plus the 2 layers of nylon at the join not just the 2 layers of nylon.

might work.
