Rhed,
Thanks a lot for all the insite! At first, this was going to be a temporary deck but, the more I think about it, I'm going to keep it on this one and strt a full stripper in the fall. I got a late start on this one and work keeps me out of the garage more than expected. I'll go insane this summer if I'm stuck in the garage :)
Dowel and glue sounds the simplest.
I never thought about shorter staples :) I was worried that 1/4 inch wouldn't be enough to hold everything down. I can't put a shear clamp in now (Frames are epoxied in place) but, I can fit filler strips to do the same thing. Wish I would have thought about rounding the edge of the hull/sheer clamp things prior to puttingt the frames in. I could have very easily done it. rounding wont be much of a problem tho.
Don't get me wrong. I love working on this thing! Of all the projects I've taken on, this has to be the most satisfying! It's a joy to just sit in the garage looking at how much I've gotten done and think 'I built that'. The only reason I want to speed the process is, I want to paddle this summer. Besides, I would rather make a full stripper vice half and half. This boat has been an incredible learning experience so far.
What's the name of that book? Where can I find it?
Thanks again.
-David
