In the one example I've seen (a picture and the builder were mentioned in an earlier thread), the 'skin' deck was applied to a S/G hull and the skin was attached to the shear clamps with battens screwed down on top. The entire deck was not skin, small sections were plywood, such as where hatches were located. This arrangement also allowed rigid bulkheads to be installed.
