What you said makes complete sence. I wish I would have read it a few days ago prior to glassing in my ribs. It would have been much easier to install the inwale and notch the ribs to fit. Now, I'll be fitting pieces in between the ribs. The ribs are 6mm wide and about an inch thick from side to side and taper to 1/4 inch down the hull to the chine They are still 1 inch at the top of the hull and have 1/2 inch fillets and glass on each side. Pretty stout in the stern where they are flat across but, I can flex the two tallest ones. I'm sure they will stiffen up once the stringers are epoxied in place. I'm going to install the inwale as well tho. It make too much sence.
Actualy, I have a thwart every two feet or less. Even the cockpit is going to be a structual member. There is only a 7 foot section that is not supported at 90 degrees to the hull and the braces in that area are not more than 2 feet apart.
