Meanwhile, in the Chicago area I have to do with poor seconds and also rans:
We have our share of elk, in Elk Grove Village, next to O'Hare, and buffalo in Buffalo Grove, and a genuine herd of bison at Fermi Nat'l Accelerator Lab, near Batavia. And of course for mountains we have Mt. Prospect. At least I think we have a mountain in Mt. Prospect.

As for blue skies, well, we're getting our skies in other colors: Now theya re mostly orange from the reflection of shopping center parking lot lights and street lights. I guess it is better than the red skies we had when I was a kid, compliments of the belching smokestacks from the steel mills.

Our other animal life is either on the streets at night, or in the two major zoos. And the trees have been tamed, and now tend to stay in their forest preserves.
