: Steve- I'm on my first boats (I acknowledged my addiction early. One week
: into stripping the Guillemot, I started on the Play for my wife, who was
: beginning to make noise about the amount of time I was spending with thin
: pieces of wood. Feed the addiction, make my wife happy with a new boat.
: Voila!), about three weeks ahead of your progress. I'm joining deck and
: hull now.

: A buddy who used West System on his boat last year said he used roller for
: fill coats with good results. I used MAS, and the roller made lots of air
: bubbles, even after tipping with a foam brush. I used just a brush for
: next fill coats and it worked fine. Perhaps the viscosity differences
: between brands of goo makes a difference in workability. Have fun!

i used mas and west on my first 2 boats. used a brush on the first and a roller on the seconed.both had some runs and sags.(probely due to my inexperance with epoxy and putting on to thick a coat)this time i used raka epoxy.much thiner.and a squeege to wet out glass.bought west system rollers yesterday and good foam brushes.went to do fill coats and found i had no roller handle so i used the foam brush. went down this morning to take a look and it came out fine.better results then i've ever had no runs, sags,or brush hairs to pull out.
thanks steve.
