That is cool. I've been wanting one of those.
I got a cool tool last week. H.N.T. Gordon http://www.woodart.com.au/tour12.htm is one of only a handfull of companies making wooden body planes. I picked up their 1" Rabbet (Rebate) plane as a backup to one I made. I figured, since it's wooden, I could modify it (round the sole) in a pinch without the aid of a machine shop.
It was the first tool I reached for when I wanted to clean up the bottom of a dado I cut on the table saw. I was really impressed with the fineness of the cut and the feel of the tool. It's made from Gidgee wood and I swear it's got to be the hardest wood on the planet. I was surprised how quickly I was able to set it up and adjust the blade. I'm also happy that I don't have to worry about it rusting. I was using it on a miter jig I'm making out of Walnut. The 50 deg. blade angle is for hardwoods. The blade can be reversed in the throat (bevel facing rear) giving an effective angle of almost 90 deg. It can be used as a scraper plane in that configuration. It's sweet. I'd love one in 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" but the only other size available is 3/4". Got it from the Japan Woodworker catalog.
