I first posted this message last night but the photos did not go up, so I'm trying again. Please excuse my internet/photo posting incompetence. The photos are at http://ca.photos.yahoo.com/hugdominic. Please let me know if it still does not work (thanks Chip for last time) and thank you for your patience. I wish computers were as easy to manipulate as wood.
We fitted the last two strips today to complete the deck of the Guillemot Double we are building. All the staples are out, we have begun planing, and will cut out the cockpits tomorrow. We're going to have to move it soon for sanding (dust issues).
Our Inuit art work is coming along quite well. The Art teacher and kids came up with the theme of Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. They worked at them for about four weeks and now have the preliminary paintings done. There is an animal from each element transforming into each other along the way. I will try to post some pictures of them soon.
I think I may have created some tool addicts. I ordered a plane from Lee Valley a while back and told the kids about it. A few days later they were asking "Did the Lee Valley package arrive yet." I told them it hadn't but should soon. They asked every day until it arrived and when it did they gathered around the tool and went "oooohhhh" and "ahhhh" for about 5 minutes. I never thought I would see 13 year kids get excited about woodworking tools.
Once again thanks to Nick for designing a great boat. Now that she is completely stripped we can really apprecitate her lines.
One of my students, Sheryl Van Bommell, has constructed her own web page based on the project. The url is http://www.expage.com/kayakproject.
