Well Rehd, (I like that well read) I wasn't the one that did it, but I may try it in the future. Tom used a shaper, with a tiny (~3.5" x 1/16") circular saw blade. He used a custom push stick to hold the wood to the tabletop. His setup is extremely slick. He has the setup still and lives close by, so I could run some panels over to his place to get them splined.

The mortice & tenon has the problem of having to shorten panels if it comes from a kit. The spline keeps the panels at the correct length.

Or you could do it like they would on the Rehd Greehn Show and use duct tape. ;)

: Gee Mihke... With a name like that, how could I possibly take you wrong. :)
: I'm just thinking it Soooooo much bother for so little reward. ??? Guess
: I've been out of the shop and working for the ole P.O. too long. :( You
: are certainly correct in that it would ease alignment issues. What are you
: using to make the cuts, since standing it up on a table saw is pretty much
: out of the question. Rather than using a spline joint, why not just do a
: mortise/tenon joint and eliminate the biscuit/spline.
