The weight of the cloth is specified per square yard (6 oz per Sq Yd, 4 oz per Sq Yd). Calculate the area of the surface you are glassing in square yards and multiply it by the weight of the cloth you intend to use.

For the deck, a lot depends on the curvature and the thickness of the wood. In general, the more curvature, and the thicker the material, the stronger it will be.
