I'm a strapping tape and "U-bracket" fan. I used the tape between the forms to hold the joint tight. The curvature of the hull or deck tends to hold the strip to the form, but the use of u-brackets and spring clamps (along with some occasional hot glue) did a pretty good job of keeping the strips tight to the forms.
