I just completed stripping an Expedition hull (cove and bead), following Nicks suggesting of using short pieces of wooden dowels placed in the cove and wood screws placed at each form (cove up). I used packing tape in between forms around the strips for a tighter fit. I followed suggestions of wiping access glue off with a 'Slightly' damp rag with water and a few drops of bleach mixture. Dark mold spots "WILL" occure on wood and are hard to remove ( the tape will trap moisture under the tape). At the stems heat the strips with heat gun and damp cloth pre-bend and fit. I also placed a 1 1/2" wooden screw in the face of the form 1/2" in from the strip I was attaching. I then placed a spring clamp applying pressure on the strip and the screw. Move the screw up as you add another strip.
Going stapeless does take longer. However, I'm a slow worker and enjoy the art at work. I placed one strip on each side in the A.M. before work and one each side in the evenings. I honestly tried the staple tech. at first. I could not get the staples to hold and chewed the strip up. P.S. The first strip is the hardest. Be Creative. Hot glue or attach with staples or screws. I placed a finishing nail in the end of each form at the shear line and made a wooden "finger" with a slot cut in it 1/4" for the shear strip to fit in and then screwed the "wooden finger" to the form face - hot glued the shear strip to the WF. It worked for me, have fun.
