I have been using the inner tube method and in most instances, the bend of the wood forces the strip to the station. If id doesn't I use long clamps, bungee cords, etc. atttached the the internal strongback to apply contact. Also use the L-shaped wood with spring clamps to fit.

The benefit of the inner tubes is that it creates a tight fit, that requires less filling of putty/epoxy as well as a stong fit.

After discovering the inner tube method I have had no problem. It also lets me know, with the glue "squeeze out" if I am getting a good fit.
