: Scott,
: I read all the posts last night on the discussion about the differences in
: opinion about your ongoing project. I hope you are not discouraged by the
: opinions of others. I think the ideas and design are incredible, the
: craftsmanship looks great. I know when I did my first boat, I thought it
: was probably the best looking boat out there. couldn't believe it came
: from my hands. Then I gradually saw and heard that others opinions were
: not quite the same as mine, at first it got me down a little, but then I
: realized that it was still, in my mind, a great looking boat to me. The
: boat your doing has some great lines, very, very nice. To me, that boat is
: in a class with few others, keep the pic's coming.

Scott,

I sure hope my comments were not discourageing to you.

I just wanted to give you some input to consider, and why I thought you should consider it. If you (or others) though I was out to lunch, that is fine, after all it was based on my option, which I would not expect to always agree with anyone, let alone every one. I believe the more opinions you consider before coming to your own decisions the beter.

I think part of the problem is you have gone beyond the realm of just building a kayak, into the realm of making art. An all art will recieive both praise and critisism.

If anyone thinks I was out of line, please remember any comments I make are an attempt to help on what ever topic of the day is being discussed. I'm sure that is the same for all the posters on the board.

A problem with Email, or BBSes, is simply the meduim of discussion, with a BBS it is easy to miss convey alot of the feeling, as you do not have the body language, tone inflections in a voice to add as input to a conversation. Never mind the fact that many of us have never met anyone one the board, so there is hard to get the feel for a posters personality.

I tend to quickly write my posts, as I do so at work. I regret not re-reading that one before hitting the send key, as well as not re-looking at the picture before sending it. In the few hours that I waited between looking at the picture and the post, my memory made the 'crack' alot worse than it look the second time I looked at the picture. (if, as you said, you put the branches and flowers on both ends of the deck, it should look great. Although I still think the addition of some more art to put it in an oriental context will make it look better. But that's just my opinion.)

Anyways, I hope I'm not over reacting. The boat looks great without any inlay, and any additional work you do to put one in will just add to the boat.

what every you do, keep the pictures coming.

Myrl
