: I am finishing the deck of my Night Herron and am concerned about the deck to
: hull joint. I worry that the fit will not look as good as the rest of the
: boat, and am considering adding a rub rail to cover my "sins",
: as well as protect the side. It would be a piece approximately 1/2"
: rounded, either in matching color or accent.

: I have a poly sea kayak that has a flange at the sheer and this actually
: helps deflect water. Also I saw a S&G that had this rub rail for the same
: reason.

It seems to me you could join the deck and hull with 'normal' method of just fiberglass tape. If it works out, then great, if not you should be able to put on a rub rail after words using tiedowns and tape to hold the rail to the kayak while the epoxy sets. I've never done this, so please don't act just on my words.

However, I've also posted questions on joining the hull to the deck, in general I was told that alot can be done to get the two to come togeather well with fiber tape. So hopefully you (and I) will not need to add a rub rail.

good luck

Myrl

: Has anyone else done this, and would like to see pictures? Am also interested
: in other thoughts.
