i think that's too harsh as well.
the kayak shown is performed w/ a straight forward and consistent approach. It ends up looking fine. A move has been made to separate the deck form from the hull even using the same wood strips by changing the orientation of the pattern to straight. it works. Moves have been made to articulate/deemphasize the coaming by using a contrasting and non competitive material. It works. Just about all yaks look blobby here. Successful moves have been made to keep the form of the yak by using flush hatches.
i might have some small comment about lines maybe, but this is a fine kayak that would shine on any beach.
i have many yaks in mind down the line and will be quite satisfied if they turn out half as attractive.
