Thanks Steve, the plan is a pair of bands following the edges. So they'll split here and rejoin again at the stern. I have a midtone cedar that I'm planning to do the rest of the deck in. Also, the plan is to put small circles between each white shape; like the picture below (but the horizontal lines are dark). I haven't worked up the nerve to cut the circles yet.
