That's great! Was it fairly easy to do? I havent tried any intarsia, so I'm looking for something fairly simple that still looks nice.

I was thinking of a dragon in line drawings, but that's way too complicated to do with inlay - hence the epoxy filler thought. But the boat's a walrus, and i think orcas are cool too. Tough decision... The rear hatch will be a flat oval, so it would be easy to scroll an intricate pattern into it. I'm just not so sure about the intarsia bit... I'd like to paddle it someday!

I dont think a router or rotozip with 1/16" bit would work at all - the scrollsaw is so much easier to control. It would probably be easier to scroll the 1/16" wide lines as two cuts than it would to try to roto-zip it. But a wide-kerf blade, a #9 or bigger if it's available, would leave a line about 1/32". Black epoxy would highlight nicely against pine or basswood...
