The kerf on the #72 blade measures .040 on my calipers and seems to cut at .050 in a block of scrap birch. I comared it to the small japanese detail/bonsai saw that I have and the cut is pretty much the same, and the #72 Makita blades come in a five pack for about the same money as the japanese saw and I think the Makita blades make for a smoother cut (less tear/chip out). The package indicates that the blades are for use with a Makita cordless Sawzall. I purchased the blades at the local Home Depot.
