Funny you should ask..... I just ordered Gardners book too.

Another source is www.lowellsboatshop.org. This is the oldest boat shop in continous existance in America. THey invented the Surf dory in 1700's as a means to get cargo from ships across the Merrimac river bar.

I am wondering if you too were Smitten by the Seine Surf Dory that was at the Portland show? Built by the Boatwrights at Lowell. It was fabulous! Nice lean sailing rig though I think I'll put a yawl rig on one. Lowell has a variety of smaller plans etc.

I was smitten enough to go for the plans too. Ah alas another boat :)
