: The Night Heron plans do come with a "low deck" option, although I
: have never seen one built that way. I paddled the Night Heron at the
: Newfound Rendezvous last year, and the deck height was my only complaint.
: In my opinion, the "low deck" version should be standard, with

: trips with lots of gear. But Nick is about six inches taller than me, and
: it is his design. If the boat had the low deck, it probably would have
: been my favorite boat on the beach.

I am also starting to thinking the "low" deck should be "standard", especially now that I've drawn up an even lower decked version. But since the prototype was the "high" I have stuck with the original designation. Although I have built several of the "low" I have yet to paddle one. Someday I'll build one for myself.
