I find that a backband provides the best support and flexibility. My seat is simple and made from minicell foam with just enough rise to keep the knees at an angle to prevent my legs from cramping. I pad the side panels with minicell foam for a snug fit. The backband is attached to the coaming in order to have it hit the small of my back.
