Well today I glued all the seats to the boat. First I mixed epoxy with cabosil and then took all the seats I painted the other night outside and glued them one by one to the boat. The bow seat had to be propped with two hardcover computer books because it kept on sliding down. I am glad that when I ran out of epoxy a while ago I bought M.A.S. brand epoxy. They claim to have the lowest working temperatures during successful curing. The weather outside is nippy. I think it is around 40 or 50 degrees. I'll be careful not to yank on the seats tomorrow as it is possible that this bond will cure long than usual.
I do plan however for tomorrow to mix more epoxy and cabosil and use a dental syringe to fill the small gaps at the seams for the bow seat and the stern seat.
I also plan to use strips of fiberglass on the underside to reinforce the seats. This might be tricky or impossible as the crossbars on the undersides obstruct the view of the area where I would be glassing.
Last reinforcement will come in form of 4 inch block spacers that I want to glue on left and right sides under the seat for reinforcement.
I also need to vacuum and start working on varnishing the inside of the boat to protect it from UV. The boat has been outside for 2 days now. I hope that won't milk the epoxy finish on the inside.
