Help with lettering: Paint 'Em Gold !

: I have a question about lettering. I would like to put some gold lettering on
: the transom. Does anyone have an opinion on how to do this? Should I buy
: the sticker letters or should I stencil?

BIG BRASS letters cost an arm and a ball and fit a large sailboat.
Plastic letters look like...plastic letters and often one of them is found missing after a few years.
Letters painted gold with a brown edging look amazing on a varnished wood hull. It is still worth using on your painted hull. They'll look better in time with
tarnishing.
You may pick the letters you like (old style for instance) from your computer and print them as large as needed, then trim them out with scissors, and spray or paint the missing parts. You may hot glue the central parts of an A or an O, or let a tape or paper link to connect it to the outer part, and paint the connecting parts too after you've removed the guiding frames.
Or just buy special frames from a shop. Gold paint, i-e for modelling, isn't expensive.
You may do this one first time in dark brown or red-brown to get the trimming, then do with the letters.
Saw this on an old, Thomas Eakins' style, scull. Recommended on stitch'n'glue ply yaks as well.
Just save some hull paint to correct mistakes or drips.

Any good websites that sell
: lettering solutions ?

: Last day of painting the hull on the outside. I started (kind of late with
: this idea but nevertheless) with a makebelieve fairing board (5 inch piece
: of oak wood wrapped in sandpaper) and sanded the finish with 100 grit.
: Then I enlisted my wife to help me spread the bubbles on the hull while I
: run up and down with roller. Things worked out well and we were able to
: coat both colors (red/white). I have also used the remaining red paint to
: coat the underside of the seats completely. Therefore I am done with
: painting the hull. Now I will just wait for this to dry and cure and then
: flip the boat over and start on gluing the seats.
